The Bachelorette Party...

The bachelorette party was thrown on Friday and Saturday, September 12th and 13th. It began in South Jersey at the home of Karen, including hair styling ad make up for all of the girls in preparation for a night on the town. A limo drove the girls into Philadelphia for dinner and drinks at Filo's in Old City. The limo then took the girls to Envy Night Club for dancing. The close of the night saw the girls hopping out of the limo for a quick snack stop at Wawa before heading back to Karen's for a sleep over.

The morning brought sleepy girls to a day at the spa at Louis Christian Wayne Roberts Salon and Spa for a day of relaxation and pampering.

The Bachelor Party...

The Merit Making Ceremony...

On Friday, September 26th, the couple gave their respects to Thai Buddhist monks in a ceremony for the making of merit by presenting offerings and received blessings for their future lives together. This was held at Lalana's parents' home with close friends and family.

In celebration of the event, several friends of the bride decided to join her in dressing in Thai traditional costume. Mrs. Ampai Kusakull created the costumes using fabric brought by Tharatip and Nisit Dararutana from Thailand and adapted the costumes to the different body types of the American ladies.

After prayers and blessings were complete, all guests were invited to take part in a feast of Thai culinary specialties.

The Rehearsal...

Held at Venice Plaza in Berlin, NJ 08009.

Memorable moments:

Never let a flustered bride drive.

The bride IS late. Never tell her that she can't be late - because she's still late even if things can't start without her.

Preparations...

The bridal party met early Saturday morning at Rizzieri Salon in Washington Twp. to begin wedding day preparations. Once hair and makeup was complete, the girls returned to the home of Lalana's parents to eat a snack and dress. Some extra time found the bride and her sister playing video games on their brother's Nintendo 64. Once it was time, all the bridesmaids dressed and helped the bride into her gown. Photos were taken at the house and at Washington Lake Park, a favorite childhood place of the bride.

Memorable moments:

Ariya and Alice require coffee in the morning.

Pokemon Puzzle League is addictive.

The windows need to be shut and the air conditioning on for days such as this.

Waterproof mascara is a must for the Mother of the Bride.

Rain? What rain?

It's all good.

Ceremony...

The ceremony was held in the afternoon on September 27th, 2003. The location was outdoors at the gazebo in front of Venice Plaza in Berlin, NJ. The weather was fair and balmy with soft breezes. It showered briefly in the morning and just slightly during the ceremony, just enough for good luck on the wedding day.

Ave Maria by Schubert

Processional Music:

The Ceremony

Memorable moments:

Not only one of the bridesmaids, but also the Bride, fell asleep in the limo on the way to the ceremony.

Vows begun by the groom: "I Lalana,...Uh, I Ronald take thee..."

Check the gazebo thoroughly for spiders to prevent bolting bridesmaids.

Note that a table made for a Thai ceremony might be too short for the groom, resulting in loss of blood flow to his lower legs.

Reception...

The reception was held Saturday evening at Venice Plaza in Berlin, NJ. The cocktail hour included butlered hot and cold hors d'ouevres and fruit and cheese selection, as well as several hot chafing dishes of assorted appetizers.

Dinner was a five course presentation. The appetizer was tortellini in vodka sauce. Fresh salad greens with a choice of dressings were served during the second course. The intermezzo was a fresh lemon sorbet. For the main course, a choice of Chateaubriand in a cabernet sauvignon reduction sauce or Chicken Saltimbocca in a sage demi glace was offered. A rolling dessert cart of fresh pastries and mouses was presented for dessert, accompanied by an international coffee and liquer service including gourmet coffee and fresh whipped cream, shaved chocolate, cinammon and miniature chocolate cups with a choice of dessert liquer such as Frangelico or Bailey's Irish Cream.
