| Hi. What
can I tell you about myself?
My personal
interests and hobbies encompass a wide range of things. I love to
read, mostly fiction or science-fiction/fantasy. I love to watch
anime and have a huge interest in Japanese culture and language.
I'm fairly active and love to go out and do things. Also, I'm a
tiny bit of a gamer - both video and rpg. I like to go to anime
conventions and the occassional Rennaissance Faire. And for the
most part, I just like to go out and experience things. :)
I've got an
incredible home full of love, a wonderful close family and awesome
friends. I'd say I'm pretty lucky. |
|
My real world home
is a cozy house in a small state within an hour's drive of my parents
and most of my friends. I share it with a Shetland Sheepdog, a tabby cat,
four fish tanks, and numerous plants.
I am also lucky enough
to share my home with my husband, Ron.
 |
Ron
is a business major at Thomas Edison State College. He is currently
a Financial Consultant.
He's
relatively active, and the two of us enjoy exercising together.
We both love to take field trips to places of interest like the
zoo, the aquarium, amusement parks, etc. He'll try anything, which
is lucky for me since I'm almost always yearning to try new things.
Unlike me, he is not a gamer, nor is he into sci-fi/fantasy or fantasy
art. He does enjoy going to Rennaisance Faires occasionally, although
he doesn't see the point in dressing up as someone you are not.
He also appreciates the Broadway shows I love, but has to see them,
he can't stand listening to the soundtracks in the car, they bore
him that way. Many of my past acquaintances have asked how I ended
up with such a mundane boyfriend.
The answer is this: We balance each other. He makes up for my faults
and I his. We enhance each other, and the two of us together are
more than either of us were when we were apart. We have grown together
and taught each other many things. He makes me complete.
Besides, he's not mundane per say, just very firmly anchored in
what he considers the real world. |

Ron
and I are newly wed and our relationship still has its challenges. So
we take the time for us and work together towards anything that needs
to be done. Our lives have been intertwined and I can't imagine life without
him.

|
| Of
course, we have our fun too - and the laughter is important to us. |
| |
|
| |
We also have a son
named Darren...
| Darren
is an orange and gold tabby cat. We rescued him from a shelter through
a program called AWA. Originally, we had only gone into PetSmart
to pick up a few things for my dog, Gypsy, who lived at my parents'
house until her passing at Christmas time year 2000.
Instead, I found Ron hunkered down at the cage (all 6'2" of
him) extending a finger at these cute little kittens saying "Awww,
isn't this one cute?"
Darren
won me over and the pact was sealed when as a 4 week old ball of
fur, he jumped past Ron's finger and fearlessly swatted at a rather
large rottweiler's inquisitive nose next to the cage. That was it,
we brought him home that night and he has grown with us ever since. |
|
...and a daughter
named Shelbie's Chelsea MacBlue, or just Chelsea to family and friends.
 |
Chelsea
is a pure bred Shetland Sheep Dog, registered with the American
Kennel Club. This is a picture of her at 9 weeks old. We got her
the last week of the year 2000 at the age of 8 weeks.
We were in
Petsmart, again, debating on whether or not to adopt a companion
for Darren. An absolutely gorgeous Sheltie (Shetland Sheep Dog)
happened by, who I couldn't help but admire. I was speaking to Ron
about dogs before hand and we were discussing a smaller dog, to
comply with the strictures of our apartment complex.
The Sheltie's
owner stopped by and we were asking questions, and they just happened
to have two 8 week old puppies with them who were in need of loving
homes. Then and there I fell in love, and a week later, Chelsea
came home with us. |
We've recently added to our family a pure-bred
German Shepherd named Kaiser Vom Rohaus, or Kai to family...
|
Kaiser joined our family
on Christmas Eve of 2005 as a 7 month old, pure-bred German Shepherd
from the Vom Rohaus Kennels.
He is a bright and energetic young dog,
still practically a puppy, who is also incredibly attentive and
sensitive. He came to us already house broken, leash broken and
with a strong foundation in obedience training compliments of the
professional trainer at Vom Rohaus Kennels. One caveat for us is
that since Kaiser was trained by professionals who also specialize
in Schutzhund, he's been trained using German commands.
Yep, our dog speaks German. It's going
to be an adventure transitioning him over to English commands. In
the meantime, he's going to grow into a beautifull German Shepherd
that meets the AKC breed standard, and will hopefully remain a gentle
giant in our household.
My husband fondly refers to him as "the
Beast".
Of course, my husband himself has been
referred to by the same nickname, but that is a story for another
time. Something having to do with park rangers referring to him
as he helped with my little brother's Eagle Scout project... |
 |
The fish don't have
names, since I've noticed they die right after I name them. But I do have
an interest in tropical fish, and keep four tanks. One tank is completely
fancy guppies, as I have found they remind me of my grandfather's pond
in Thailand.
Here
are Ron and Darren taking an afternoon nap together:

Darren and Chelsea
spend their days romping around the house, wrestling or taking turns chasing
each other through the apartment.

.And
the rough housing in the house has gotten rougher. ..and Darren gets in
a good right hook...

...but
Chelsea got him back later.
The
rough housing looks scary, but never once has either of them bruised or
drawn blood - and if Chelsea, as she has grown larger than Darren, ever
hurt Darren, he would have drawn his claws by now - Darren is in full
possession of his claws. On the contrary, they often groom each other,
sleep near each other - and Darren starts the rough housing games with
a flying tackle from the top of the couch.
And
she has grown into a beautiful dog.

Darren has his share
of incredibly cute moments himself.

These are my babies.
And my heart wouldn't be whole without them.

Of course, my life
would never be complete without friends and family. So visit them and
take a look. My life may not be the richest in money, nor the most accomplished
just yet, but it is definitely rich in friends and family and love. Hey,
what more could I ask for?
